Postero - NC
This is our favorite restaurant in the little town of Hendersonville, NC. To get a good seat, you'll want to make a reservation through the Open Table app. This is a pricy restaurant but completely worth it for the service, quality of food, and upscale dining atmosphere. For an added benefit, request to get a table on the balcony side of the second floor. This view lets you see most of the kitchen, the bar, and restaurant below. While there, before or after your meal, visit The Tobaccanist cigar bar next door.
Burgers & Bakery - SC
If you blink, you'll miss it. This restaurant is in a house on a busy residential highway. Winning "Best of" for nearly a decade, you'll know why once you stop for one of their gourmet burgers and homemade desserts. Afterwards, head downstairs to their coffee shop speakeasy for an after meal beverage and maybe another dessert.
The Baker's Box
The Baker's Box, located in Hendersonville, NC, just north of town on Asheville Hwy, is a paradise for nerds. Greeted by Darth Vader, you look up to see an aerial train set circling overhead, surrounded by tens and tens of lego castles, ships, and other builds. The walls are adorned with legos and art and something nerd friendly is always on the TV. Once the shock wears off it's onto slushies and milkshakes, amazing burgers and other meals and store baked goods for dessert. Cakes, torts, pudding, pies, brownies, and more.
Firebirds
Looking for a delicious burger in the Charlotte area that will really knock your socks off? Check out Firebirds. They have several locations, Northlake is the one we visited while staying at the Drury Inn. The restaurant itself has high class charm; An excellent place for a date, if you don't mind spending a little more than average on your special someone.
Buffalo Creek Vacations in Clyde, NC is close to Asheville, Waynesville, Cherokee, and Bryson City. There's few experiences that top waking up in a caboose, looking out the window, and seeing bison and their calves just outside.
The Inn at Apple Valley in Pigeon Forge is just a short drive from Dollywood, Smoky Mtn Distillery, tons of shops and dinner theater experiences. We really enjoyed the in-room jacuzzi tub and natural gas fire place. Staff were extremely nice and helpful.
If you prefer to stay in a chain hotel, Drury Hotels are the best family chain we've found. Top notch pools, in-room jacuzzi tubs in some rooms, breakfast and dinner included during specified times, friendly helpful staff, and clean spacious rooms.

The NC Zoological Society based in Asheboro, NC is a top 10 trip for Kyle, who has supported their efforts since he was in his single digits. The NC Zoo is in the process of adding an Asian Continent exhibit to their already massive animal education property. The zoo also provides many educational programs and tours.
